The TV series tells the story of Teresa Mendoza (character played by Mexican actress Kate del Castillo), who becomes a powerful person in the world of drug trafficking.
The new episodes begin four years after the end of the second season, and the protagonist is seen in a maximum security prison in the United States of America, after being arrested for the murder of DEA agents. However, Mendoza manages to escape, she travels almost the entire American continent as she plans a new attack on the US anti-drug agency.

Both seasons set a record for Telemundo, which will again air the new episodes in Puerto Rico and the United States. In the rest of the world, the production will be available on the streaming platform Netflix.
