La Reina del Sur gets premiere date

“1493 days have passed since we have not seen Teresa, but in October the wait ends. “La Reina Del Sur” returns to Telemundo with a season that will give a lot to talk about”, wrote the protagonist of the production on her Instagram account.

So Kate del Castillo announced that the third season of La Reina del Sur finally has a month of premiere, although she did not specify the specific release date. It will be in October of this year 2022 when the public and fans of the TV drama will be able to enjoy the new chapters.

The TV series tells the story of Teresa Mendoza (character played by Mexican actress Kate del Castillo), who becomes a powerful person in the world of drug trafficking.

The new episodes begin four years after the end of the second season, and the protagonist is seen in a maximum security prison in the United States of America, after being arrested for the murder of DEA agents. However, Mendoza manages to escape, she travels almost the entire American continent as she plans a new attack on the US anti-drug agency.

Next season’s show took place in about 16 Latin American tourist attractions such as Santa Marta in Colombia, Machu Picchu in Peru and Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia.

La Reina del Sur is inspired by the novel of the same name by the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez Reverte.

The first season premiered in 2011, and the second came eight years later with an award attached: it won an Emmy for Best Non-English-Speaking Primetime Series. Both seasons set a record for Telemundo, which will again air the new episodes in Puerto Rico and the United States. In the rest of the world, the production will be available on the streaming platform Netflix.

The direction of the new season is headed by Carlos Bolado, Carlos Villegas and Claudia Pedraza; while the screenplay was written by Lina Uribe and Darío Vanegas.
