LOVELAND, CO - AUGUST 3, 2022: An Alpine dairy goat named Fantasia chews on the shirt of her owner, Samantha Maclean, on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, as the two wait in line to compete in the Dairy Goat Parts Identification Contest during the Larimer County Fair at The Ranch in Loveland. Samantha, 16, has been mentoring some young 4-Hers from Loveland as a sponsor, which is new this year for the dairy goat category. She leased three of her goats to the youth of Loveland and has spent time teaching them everything they need to know about goats and how to show them at the fair. One of the mothers of the child she mentored, Amy Jacoby, said "It's been a wonderful opportunity for these kids," adding that some of these "the children of the city" there may never be such an opportunity. The various events, including the 4-H competitions that have been the backbone of the fair for decades, will continue throughout the weekend and into Wednesday, when the county fair concludes with the traditional Youth Livestock Sale beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Participants show off animals, sewing and cooking skills and a variety of other projects during the fair, which also includes live music, rodeo activities and a pancake breakfast on Sunday. Food vendors set up on site, along with many free family-friendly activities, as well as several ticketed events.
