Medellin, Colombia – The Paris 2024 Olympic Games have ended with a spectacular closing ceremony in the Stade de France stadium, marking the final of the competition’s return to the City of Lights for the first time in 100 years. The night also welcomed the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
During the last week, Latin American delegations continued to win medals and obtain unprecedented results for their countries. In the final medal table, Brazil led the region with 20 medals, followed by Cuba with nine and Ecuador with five.

Argentina
With three medals, one each, Argentina placed 52nd in the final medal table. Mateo Majdalani AND Eugenia Bosco won the silver medal in the Mixed Multihull Sailing discipline on August 8 and the country’s Women’s Hockey team won the bronze medal in their match against Belgium on August 9.
Brazil
Brazil led the region in the final medal table, ranked 20th with three gold, seven silver and 10 bronze medals.
Tatiana Weston-Webb won the silver medal in women’s surfing on August 6, finishing just 17 points behind Team USA’s Caroline Marks. On the same day, the country’s women’s volleyball team beat the Dominican Republic 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
The women’s soccer team won 4-2 in their match against Spain, beating the reigning world champions in the semi-finals. of Canarihnas would end up scoring the silver medal, placing second in the finals against Team USA, 1-0.
Augustus Akio took bronze in men’s Park skateboarding, making it the fifth medal the country has won in the sport at the Olympics. Chile
Chile excelled in canoeing. Maria Mailliard AND Paola Gomez came fourth on August 9 in the Women’s C-2 500m Canoe Sprint Final. Mailliard also came fourth in the women’s C-1 200m Canoe Sprint, with a time of 46.77, and then went on to compete in the semi-finals, in which she placed sixth. Cuba
The country made history on August 6, with Mijaín López NúñezFifth gold medal in the men’s 130kg Greco-Roman final. The athlete is now the only Olympian with five gold medals in a row. López Núñez won gold in Beijing, London, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Paris. In the same discipline, Luis Alberto Orta won the bronze medal in the 68 kg category, as well as Gabriel Rosillo in the weight of 97 kg.

The Dominican Republic was ranked 59th in the final medal table, with one gold and two bronze medals.
Marilady Paulino scored the country’s gold medal in the women’s 400m athletics discipline and the country excelled in boxing with Junior Alcantara ReyesBronze-winning performance in the men’s 51 kg discipline, as well as Christian Pinalesin 80 kg for men.
Ecuador
The country scored 49 in the final medal table, with one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

The country also won the silver medal with Marco Alonso Verde Álvarez in the men’s 71-kg boxing final on August 9, as well as with Prisca Awiti in the judo discipline of 63 kg for women. Finally, the Women’s Recurve Archery team won the bronze medal.
The country was ranked 65th in the final medal table, with three silver and two bronze medals.
Panama
of Panama Athena Bylon won the country’s only medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics by scoring silver in the women’s middleweight boxing final on 10 August. The country was ranked 74th in the final medal table.
PERU
On August 7, Stefano Pescheira won the bronze medal in men’s sculling, Peru’s first Olympic medal in 32 years. Similarly, Kimberly Garcia AND Cesar Rodriguez came fourth in the Mixed Marathon Walk Relay, just 18 milliseconds behind Australia’s bronze.

Costa Rican Gerald Drummond came seventh in the men’s 400m hurdles semi-final with a time of 49.68 and Haitian Emelia Chatfield finished sixth in the women’s 100m hurdles relay round.
For the Uruguay team, Matías Valentín Otero Ezcurra placed sixth in the Men’s K-1 1000m Canoe Sprint, with a time of 3:30.48, and ninth in the semifinals.
