Among the night’s winners is Colombia, which took home 14 awards, including, “South America’s Top Airport” for El Dorado Airport, Bogota, “South America’s Top Beach Destination” for San Andres, “Top Cruise Port in South America” for Puerto Cartagena. South America’s Top Cultural City” for Santiago de Cali, “South America’s Top Emerging Tourist Destination” for Medellín, “South America’s Top Festival and Event Destination” for Barranquilla, “Top Honeymoon Destination in South America” for Cartagena de Indias.
For hotels, the award went to Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena, as ‘Leading Hotel in South America’, Hotel 101 Park House Suites & Spa in Bogotá, as ‘Leading Luxury Hotel in South America’, Sofitel Barú Cala Blanca, as ‘ New Leading Hotel in South America’, Hotel 23 in Medellín as ‘Leading Design Hotel in South America’.
Colombia also won the award for ‘Leading South American Promotion Agency’ from ProColombia.
Mexico won with the city of Acapulco taking first prize for ‘Top City Destination in Mexico and Central America’, while Tulum took home the title of ‘Top Beach Destination in Mexico and Central America’.
In hotels, Gaia Hotel & Reserve received the award for ‘Leading Eco-Friendly Hotel in Mexico and Central America’.
Peru received the title of “Top Culinary Destination in South America” for its avant-garde gastronomy.
Finally, Ecuador, with Quito, the country’s capital, won the award for ‘Top Destination City in South America’ and the city of Guayaquil won the title of ‘Top Meeting and Conference Destination in South America’.
