Latin celebrities say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II

Following the death of the British monarch, the world has sent its condolences and messages of support. In Latin America, the first leader to mourn the news was Ecuador’s president, Guillermo Lasso.

“Horrified by the death of Queen Elizabeth II, whose long life and dedication to the service of her people has gone down in history as an exemplary reign, I send my condolences to her children and grandchildren, the royal family, the government and the people of the United Kingdom. Peace to her grave,” he said on his Twitter account.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro tweeted his “condolences to the Royal Family, the United Kingdom and the British people. May his soul rest in peace!” he added.

Similarly, Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, also sent his condolences to the family and friends of the royal family. As well as the former president of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos, who recognized her: “We are very sorry for the death of Queen Elizabeth II. During her successful reign she was always very special with Colombia. Our sincere condolences to the royal family and the British people”.

Other celebrities such as Peruvian presenter Bruno Pinasco, took to his official Instagram account to share a message revealing that he had the chance to see her while he was working in London. The presenter also posted a photo of Queen Elizabeth II.

“End of an era. 96 years and 70 on the throne. I’ve been able to see him twice at work events in London, mind you I’m not saying I’ve met him by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve been present at the events she attended as monarch and I could see her from a few meters away. Her presence was commanding as was the devotion of the English people to her, she had a great determination to serve the nation,” he wrote .

In the same way, the long list of reactions has been joined by the well-known photographer Mario Testino, who has distributed an extensive text where he tells some anecdotes he had as the official photographer of the English monarchy. Thanks to his work, he was decorated in 2014 by the late queen
