The Courtyard at Overton Square will host concessions, Latin American food, music and more with free admission.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fun and friendly gaming experiences that highlight Latin American cultures are what the non-profit organization Cazateatro hopes to offer Memphis with their 2022 Festi Latina event, September 24.
The Overton Square Courtyard will host concessions, Latin American food, music and cultural items that will be available for purchase. Dances and information about Hispanic and Latino cultures will be demonstrated in the Square.
Entrance to “Latin Fest” is free and the festivities take place from noon to 6 p.m
Cazateatro hasn’t revealed which performers will be at this year’s event, but in the past they’ve brought Opera Memphis, Salsa Memphis, SambaFusion (Nashville) and Revolfusion to the Square.
Aiming to build a “unifying cultural bridge for our community through the arts,” Cazateatro emphasizes “the importance of bilingualism and the richness of different cultures.”
Outside of the festival, the non-profit organization offers several educational and cultural events, which include bilingual performances, festivals, parades, workshops and other artistic performances.
“Enthusiastic Actors” and other performance artists, volunteers and community sponsors make these events possible.
Sponsors for the upcoming Latin Fest include Overton Square ArtsMemphis, TN Arts Commission, Hyde Foundation and Babalu.
