This year, Karthik has emerged as one of the best number six batsmen in the shortest format of the game. He did an outstanding job for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL earlier this year due to which he earned a return to the Indian T20I team and with them too, in the limited opportunities he has had so far, he has impressed.

Ashwin was also part of India’s playing XI in the first T20I and returned with figures of 2 for 22 in four overs. The second-highest batsman for India in Test matches had earlier had an opportunity to showcase his talent with the bat and he remained unbeaten on 13 balls off 10 balls.
