The Lucian Carnival is a celebration of the culture, art and vibrancy of St. Lucia, and thanks to the Bank of St. Lucia, three lucky winners have even more reason to celebrate.
Alexis Stephen, Carlene St. Edward and Alison Mayers were the big winners of BOSL’s Sign Up to Win Carnival Promotion. Over six hundred National Carnival and signature event attendees qualified for the promotion by simply scanning an activation code and completing a short submission form. At the awards ceremony held recently at the Bank’s Financial Center on Bridge Street, the winners each received BOSL prize packs and cash prizes of EC$1,000.00, EC$500.00 and EC$300.00 respectively.
The bank recognizes that Lucian Carnival not only represents an opportunity to showcase the island’s creativity and talent on a global scale, but more importantly, is a major economic driver for the country. It is against this background that the Bank gave its full support to this major national holiday, especially given the two-year disruption due to COVID-19 and the impact it has had on families and the economy.
This year the Bank collaborated with the Carnival Planning and Management Committee, signing on as a platinum sponsor of the National King and Queen of Bands & Panorama, and in supporting its first national Carnival Queen contestant, Miss BOSLWISE, Xenia Douglas. The Bank of Saint Lucia shared the pride and excitement associated with the crowning of Miss BOSLWISE as the National Carnival Queen 2022. Export the Runway, by Export Saint Lucia and several other signature events, including Color Me Red and U4RIA, received support from the Bank of Saint Lucia.
Rolf Phillips, Managing Director said “Bank of Saint Lucia played a much bigger role in Lucian Carnival 2022 because we understand the importance of contributing towards the social and economic development of our island, our people and most importantly, our culture” .
According to other Bank officials, “Supporting our creative community, especially after the events of the last two years, remains a top priority and this is what compelled us to support King & Queen of the Bands, and Panorama in 2022. The Bank aims to extend its support to our biggest cultural showcase, the Lucian Carnival, for years to come.”
