West Indies captain Hayley Matthews became the second woman in ODI history to score 400 runs and 25 wickets in a calendar year.
She achieved this feat during the last ODI series against England.
In doing so, Matthews emulates the feat of teammate Stafanie Taylor, who was the first to achieve the feat.
“It’s very humbling to have achieved this milestone knowing that Stafanie was the first to achieve it in 2013,” Matthews told CWI Media.
“Growing up, she was a role model for me and to be able to emulate that is a huge accomplishment. It also shows me that the hard work I’ve put in, especially in the last year and a half, is paying off. ”, the West Indies captain added.
Matthews, who replaced Taylor as West Indies captain in June 2022, is currently leading the regional team in their series against England Women.
