LOU AMARAL: wineyou have been Creative Director of Universal goldwhat year did you join the company and how was that experience, considering that Ouro Universal is now 57 years old?
VERA PEREIRA: “I entered the Universal gold in 2000, coming from a completely different field. I had a school and worked in education and for four years I tried to reconcile the two. In 2004 I decided to close the school and devote myself exclusively to it Universal gold. When I arrived, the company focused primarily on rings and bracelets, but I saw an opportunity to expand. Introducing other product lines such as earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces, something I found essential to better serve our customers. This innovation helped diversify the company, attracting customers looking for variety and strengthening our position in the market.”
LOU AMARAL: Is silver considered jewelry?
VERA PEREIRA: “For sure! Silver is truly a gem. It is a noble metal, with a unique luster and highly valued, but more affordable than gold. Even so, silver has its value and is widely used in elegant and stylish pieces.”
LOU AMARAL: What are the creative uses for the company’s silver collection? Universal gold?
VERA PEREIRA: “This collection of silver jewelry is an invitation for you to express your creativity and create unique and stylish combinations. With pieces shaped like hearts, shamrocks, circles and oval links and pieces that resemble padlocks, every item becomes an opportunity to play and innovate. Try pairing a long necklace with a bracelet to create something that mimics an elegant tie, or pair a 60cm necklace with a smaller one, double linking it for a sophisticated look. And how about a mix of bracelets, each with its own charm, to bring out your style even more? The possibilities are endless, allowing each look to be a unique masterpiece. Let your imagination run wild and create accessories that reflect your personality!”
LOU AMARAL: Is it common to mix gold and silver? Is it fashionable?
VERA PEREIRA: “Yes, this mix is super popular and it’s a trend adopted by many women, including celebrities! The combination of gold and silver creates a versatile, fresh and modern look, allowing for numerous styling options. I personally love mixing these colors because they really draw attention.
The secret is to choose which of the colors you want to stand out the most. For example, if you want the silver to have more presence, choose stronger pieces in silver and combine them with more subtle details in gold. This creates an interesting balance. To compose, instead of wearing a silver necklace and a gold earring, it is better to wear two necklaces – one in silver, brighter and one in gold, more discreet. For earrings, you can use a piece that already mixes the two colors or, if you have two holes in your ear, use one color in each hole.”
LOU AMARAL: Summer, looking at your whole journey here and all the changes you’ve brought about, what are you most proud of Universal gold? And what do you see as the next step for the brand?
VERA PEREIRA: “Ah, I’m so proud to come add, you know? He brought a greater variety of products, always looking to innovate and keep up with trends. I keep an eye on what’s showing up at jewelry fairs, always keeping an eye on what we can bring in new.
For the future, I hope Universal gold stay strong, with that spirit of family and togetherness. I want us to continue to offer quality products at prices that truly make a difference, creating pieces that make a mark on our customers’ lives, just as the company made a mark on mine.”
