Mercados Open with Food, Music, Carnival Rides for Santa Barbara’s Old Spanish Days | Local News

Old Spanish Days opened the mercado at MacKenzie Park and De la Guerra Plaza in Santa Barbara on Wednesday to kick off five days of events.

Parades, shows, markets and rodeo events are planned throughout the city.

El Mercado De la Guerra, at 8 E. De la Guerra St. near Santa Barbara City Hall, is open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily through Saturday with booths selling Spanish and Mexican-American food and gifts.

El Mercado del Norte is back at MacKenzie Park, 3200 State St. The market has a large area of ​​carnival rides and games, as well as food vendors, vendors selling toys and souvenirs, and live music and dance performances. It is open from 11am to 10pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays and open until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Both mercados opened with a ribbon-cutting celebration Wednesday.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is hosting Fiesta festivities Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Mexican food and live entertainment. Celebrations are scheduled at the church, 227 N. Nopal St., from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
