At home and around the world, Jamaicans will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of our Independence, which this year we are doing under the theme “Resurrecting a Nation to Greatness”.
Jamaica has had its share of hardships and endured hard times, but the great nation that we are, we have triumphed and our successes have been many.
I am pleased to know that the Jamaica/Saint Lucia Community – Friends in Helen are organizing events to commemorate our independence and to unite the Jamaican Community in Saint Lucia for this our Diamond Anniversary.
I congratulate you on organizing your celebrations and wish you success.

Message from the Organizing Committee in Saint Lucia
Jamaica and its people have come a long way and as we celebrate, we reflect on the struggles and achievements that made us a generation of resilient and resilient people. We reflect on the courage of our forefathers and give thanks for the strength of will of our leaders today as they continue to navigate the path to independence. We recognize and appreciate that independence is not a destination, but a journey.
We embrace the abundance of talent that our cultural, sporting, musical icons, among others, have been blessed with. The talent that is so often celebrated and highly regarded by others around the world; a true demonstration of our ability to instill national pride among other generations and nations.
As Jamaicans living in Saint Lucia, we encourage each other to continue to remain “Friends in Helen” with Saint Lucians and other Jamaicans alike, as we remember the mutual economic and social benefits that have accrued over the years, long ago. the 40s and 50s.
The theme for our 60th Independence provides an excellent opportunity for you to determine how you, the Jamaica/St. Lucia Community, can achieve this goal in your adopted homeland. Twenty-six years have passed since the Community was established in Saint Lucia, I urge you to continue to commit to rekindling yourselves, to the greatness you are known for, not only to Saint Lucians, but to the rest of the Caribbean communities in Saint Lucia.
Happy 60th Anniversary of Independence everyone!
