MIAMI DADE COLLEGE’S MIAMI FILM FESTIVAL PARTNERS WITH GOYA FOODS TO INTRODUCE QUICK BITES SHORT FILM COMPETITION

Miami, August 9, 2022 – How Dade College in Miami‘s (MDC) Miami Film Festival prepares for the 40sth anniversary, which will be held by March 3-12, 2023, it announces a brand new film competition in collaboration with Goya Foods for short films that use cinema to showcase the point where food and community meet. of Goya Quick Bites Contest will offer a price of $2,500 in a short film selected by the jury that has a strong focus on food, culture, mealtimes or how the culinary experience flavors our everyday lives.

The intersection between cinema and the culinary arts as a vital part of Miami’s cultural landscape. In the past, the Festival has partnered with the Food Network’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival for special screenings and special event pairings, and in recent years has hosted its own Culinary Series partnering with local restaurants. This new program sponsored by Goya creates a deeper connection with the culinary arts and new stories that can be told through them.

Applications for the 2023 Miami Film Festival are open now through November 9. Films can be submitted for consideration at https://filmfreeway.com/MiamiFilmFestival. Films that are selected to be part of this competition will be screened during the 2023 Miami Film Festival through various screenings of the Shorts Block. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit films to this contest without an additional submission fee when participating in other short film contests. The competition winner will be announced at the Miami Film Festival Awards Night Ceremony along with all other Awards announcements.

40th The Miami Film Festival will showcase films from around the world competing in the Festival’s first Goya Quick Bites competition. Together, Miami Film Festival and Goya will highlight a diverse group of films throughout the Festival’s programming and find unique ways to engage with audiences during screenings and other Festival events.
