More than 3.7 million dollars announced to support tourism offers and infrastructure in Saskatchewan
SASKATOON, SK, August 15, 2022 /CNW/ – Vibrant communities and unique tourism experiences bring people together and attract visitors who support the local economy. Tourism operators and communities are eager to welcome visitors Saskatchewan. From open prairie to forests, lakes and rivers, and cultural and historical sites, Saskatchewan has a lot to offer. This is why the Government of Canada is investing in tourism projects all over Saskatchewan.
Today, during a visit to Wanuskewin Heritage Park, the Honorable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Honorable Daniel Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan, announced more than 3.7 million dollars in federal support for 19 tourism projects in Saskatchewan. This funding will support art galleries, museums, festivals and unique outdoor experiences that will offer visitors from all over Canada and abroad, as well as locals, with many opportunities to enjoy of Saskatchewan special landscape and rich culture.
Whether it’s helping Wanuskewin attract tourists to enjoy 6,000 years of culture and history, the Meewasin Valley Authority expanding its offerings surrounding the South Saskatchewan River, or the Remai Moderne Gallery expanding its guest experiences, the Government of Canada is supporting these and other sites to help bring the world together Saskatchewan.
Funding for these projects is provided through PrairiesCan under the Tourism Assistance Fund and will help rural and urban communities in every corner of the province to enhance their tourism and recreational opportunities.

With a budget of 500 million dollars over two years, inclusive 50 million dollars dedicated specifically to indigenous tourism initiatives and 15 million dollars for national initiatives, this fund will position Canada to be a destination of choice for domestic and international travel.
