Minister: Staff Report ‘Incremental Changes’ At BCF – New Director Expected Soon

Minister of Internal Affairs Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte says staff at the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) are reporting increasing changes at the facility as it waits for a new director.

The last Director of Corrections, Hilary Herman, ended his three-year contract on September 30, 2022.

And Leonard Terrance is currently the officer in charge of BCF.

“I think we should have a director by the end of this week,” Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte.

The Minister, also responsible for Public Service, Labor and Gender Affairs, disclosed that a promised BCF review report was in and was being discussed by Cabinet.

“We are acting on the recommendations of the report,” explained the Babonneau MP.

In addition, she said that she had a meeting with BCF management.

“They are seeing incremental changes in Bordelais because the government has addressed a number of areas, so we are well on our way to reorganize and restructure that institution,” the minister declared.
