The Ministry of Sports and Community Development (MSCD) has paid tribute to Trinidad and Tobago cricketer Kieron Pollard, who announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old called time on his 15-year international career after representing the West Indies in 123 ODIs and 101 T20 internationals.
In a media release, the MSCD stated: “The Ministry of Sport and Community Development thanks cricketer Kieron Pollard for his stellar contribution to cricket in Trinidad and Tobago and in the West Indies.”
“Kieron has given us many exciting memories and has been an inspiration to our youngsters and cricketers. We salute Kieron and wish him the best,” the statement added.
Also paying tribute to Pollard on Thursday was his teammate, former West Indies teammate Chris Gayle.
“Can’t believe you retired before me @KieronPollard55 Anyway-Congratulations on your international career…it was great playing alongside you. Happy retirement… All the best in your next chapter @KieronPollard55 # Respect,” Gayle tweeted.
