Minor files rape complaint against National cricket Captain Sandeep Lamichhane

A rape complaint has been filed against Sandeep Lamichhane, the captain of Nepal’s national cricket team.

According to Nepali police spokesperson Tek Parshad Rai, a 17-year-old minor, in the presence of her guardian, registered the complaint at the Gaushala police district on Tuesday, alleging that Lamichhane forced her to have intercourse.

Kathmandu District Police Regional, in a Facebook post, said the victim was taken for medical evaluation by the police to the One-Door Crisis Management Centre.

The medical report is yet to come in, police say.

“A minor has filed a rape case with the police against Nepal’s national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane. The police sent him to the One Door Crisis Management Center for a medical examination after the complaint,” said Rai.

The girl and Lamichhane, according to the complaint, met on the social network ‘Snapchat’.

Lamichhane asked to meet after they became friends. The girl agreed. According to the complaint, Lamichhane drove a private vehicle near the guest house where the victim was staying on the evening of August 21 and went to Nagarkot.

However, according to the complaint, the girl repeatedly asked Lamichhane to drop her off at the hostel where she was staying. They left Nagarkot for Kathmandu later that night and booked a hotel room as the hostel where she was staying was closed.

According to the victim, Lamichhane sexually abused her at the hotel where they stayed after returning to Kathmandu.

Lamichhane is currently located in Trinidad & Tobago. After playing the ODI and T20 series against Kenya for the Nepal national team, he is taking part in the Caribbean Premier League. He left Nepal on August 22. According to the complaint, the incident happened the night before and in the morning he left for Kenya.
