Miss World Trinidad and Tobago (MWTT) announced the top three winners of its Top Model Pageant, sponsored by Toyota Trinidad and Tobago Limited, which was held on Saturday October 15, 2022 at the Toyota Showroom South Park, San Fernando.
In a statement the agency said the winners were, in no particular order, Anhasi Contracting Services Miss Maracas Valley Achè Abrahams, Miss Arima Fitness Center Jemima Pierre and Brix Autograph Miss Plymouth Karielle Ramsden.
The winner of the MWTT Top Model Competition will be fast-tracked to the top ten semi-finalists and announced at the grand finale taking place on Sunday 6 November 2022 at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), Port of Spain. .
The top 17 MWTT finalists were judged on their confidence, stage presence, elegance and carrying of their outfits.
The top 17 MWTT finalists wore swimwear designed by Resort-Wear designer Rhion Romany Brand and haute couture pieces produced by Trinidad and Tobago’s top local fashion designers including Shaun Griffith Perez, Tobye Gill , Heather Jones, Chandra Maharaj, Claudia Pegus, Zad. , Lisa Sargeant Gonzales & Lisa Faye, Rajendra Sahadeosingh, Saleem Samuel, Kasa’s Designs, Stephen Bassanio, Khalisha Khristi, Neha Karina, Tyron Kerr, UniquleyU, Dominique LA Roche and Daronte Guadeloupe
Daronte Guadelope was selected as the Best Designer of the MWTT Top Model Competition with a custom made gown made from Bridal Satin and hand painted with acrylic fabric paint. It consisted of a bodice, an eight-panel coat and paired with bell bottoms. It is made with over 10 meters of fabric and is meant to evoke “regality” and the epitome of elegance and sophistication. His design was worn by Miss Arima Jemima Pierre of Top Finalist Fitness Center.
Charu Lochan Dass, National Pageant Director and Franchise Holder said her vision is to produce the best possible delegates to represent Trinidad and Tobago on an international platform and create role models for society.
“I can say for sure at this moment we have achieved both. This was definitely achieved through hard work and training. Our 17 finalists spent six weeks training with the likes of Richard Young, who taught them Choreography and Deportment; Adrian Raymond who coaches them with the Q&A segment, Lisa Ghany on Protocols, Dining & Etiquette and a variety of other training sessions that included Basic Media Training, Staged Presence and Presentation, Fitness, Photo Presentation and Makeup Application only to name a few.
Lochan Dass said this was a culmination of hard work and dedication not only from the Pageant coaches and the organizing team, but more so from the girls.
“Passion, dedication and a willingness to learn is what these young women brought to the table and they certainly did not disappoint. It is truly a heart-warming experience to see the metamorphosis.”
She thanked Toyota T&T Limited, SM Group, Trinidad Tourism Limited, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Sacha Cosmetics and special performer on the night College Boy Jesse as well as the judges.
The judging panel for the MWTT Toyota T&T Top Model Competition comprised of: Rana Ibrahim, Bari Khan (Toyota), Richard Young, Adrian Raymond, Phaedra Adele, Charu Lochan Dass, Giselle Laronde West, Sham Mohammed, Dr Reiaz Mohammed and Ashvin Bally .
In attendance were the Mayor of San Fernando, Junior Regrello, former international cricket star Brian Lara, Mr. Ryan Latchu, President of Toyota T&T and the reigning Miss World T&T 2021, Jeanine Brandt.
The evening’s hosts were former Miss World T&T Delegate Jynnyn Edwards and Jason Williams, who are both radio and television presenters.
A performance was made by College Boy Jesse, with his Carnival 2023 release of the song titled “Woman”.
The MWTT Beauty with a Purpose competition will be held on Thursday 27 October 2022 at Brix Autograph and the MWTT D. Rampersad & Company Ltd talent competition. will take place on Sunday 30 October 2022 at Estate 101 in Maraval.
