Jose Altuve thought he found a narrative in Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Noah Syndergaard’s delivery and went to inform his teammates about it before their at-bats in Game 5 of the World Series. But whatever Altuve told his teammates didn’t work. Yordan Alvarez and Alex Bregman both clashed after their discussions with Jose Altuve.
Altuve was sure he saw something that would help his teammates. The incident was similar to Bryce Harper’s in Game 3, when he appeared on Lance McCullers Jr. appearing to end his pitches and proceeded to inform his teammates.
when Jose Altuve tried to be bryce harper but failed miserably and took the next two batters to strike out 😠https://t.co/PUycCo22KQ
It’s not clear what exactly Altuve tried to tell Bregman. Either way, it was enough to mess with Bregman’s head, resulting in a hit.
MLB fans on Twitter think Jose Altuve made an absolute fool of himself.
“Sit down little boy,” said one fan.
Such a tool, – answered another.
@matttadelphia literally everyone on that bench looked at him with disgust 💀
@matttadelphia Maybe telling him “make sure your signal vibration is high”
Jose Altuve is an easy target for baseball fans
Altuve is one of the most hated players in MLB. Ever since the Astros cheating scandal in 2017, baseball fans have let him have it. He is constantly booed every time he comes to the plate in an outfield game.
Funnily enough, players like Tony Kemp and Colin Moran don’t get the same treatment every time they step up to the plate despite being on the same roster.
Altuve seems to be one of the scapegoats for the cheating scandal because he was so successful in those years.
Maybe it would have been different if he had received some kind of punishment at the time. As such, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is partly to blame for the way he handled the entire scandal.
