The Ministry of Health and Welfare is currently managing an outbreak of COVID-19, involving a number of elderly clients, at the Geriatric Hospital.
As a result, visits will be restricted to Units Three and Four of the hospital located in Beckles Road, St Michael. The restrictions will apply with immediate effect. These Units include wards 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 2B, 3B, 4B and 5B. Visitors will not be allowed in these wards until further notice.
Chief of Medicine, Dr. The Most Reverend Kenneth George, said the Ministry was taking the outbreak “seriously” and would continue to monitor the situation and provide appropriate guidance to take the hospital through this current challenge. He is reminding the public that the elderly and those with co-morbidities continue to be the most at risk from COVID-19 and is asking for the public’s cooperation when it comes to masking and vaccination around this particularly vulnerable group.
