It is celebrated from September 15 to October 15
The Morris County Board of Commissioners declared Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month 2022 in Morris County through a resolution unanimously approved by the board this week.
“We recognize this period each year to celebrate the culture, heritage and countless contributions of those whose ancestors were indigenous to North America, as well as Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America,” said commissioner director Tayfun Selen.
The celebration lasts from mid-September to mid-October because during that four-week period, Mexico along with several nations in Central and South America celebrate their Independence Days.
“With the passage of this resolution tonight, we encourage all residents to celebrate the historic contributions made by Hispanics to our diverse American community,” added Director Selen.
