Mountaineers Fall to Begin Homestand

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team fell to Kansas State in three sets to open a two-match homestand at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown on Wednesday, October 5.

The Highlanders (6-10, 0-4 Big 12) started strong in the first and third sets against the Wildcats (11-6, 2-2 Big 12), but eventually fell to close out the third set.

Fifth-year outside hitter Adrian Ell led the match with 13 kills. The Cincinnati, Ohio native also tallied two blocks and two assists, both good for second on the team.

First Year First Shirt Setter Kamiah Gibson collected 29 assists to open the stand and recorded two service aces to lead the team.

Free Junior Skye Stokes led WVU with 13 digs.

Additionally, West Virginia posted 38 kills and 47 digs to lead the match.

The team closes out the homestand with a game against Baylor on Saturday, October 8, at 1:00 PM ET, at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown. It’s the annual Pink Match at the WVU Coliseum and fans are encouraged to wear pink. Live streaming and live stats for the game can be found at WVUSports.com.
