Mountaineers Wrap Competition at Summer Nationals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Two members of the West Virginia University men’s swimming and diving team finish competing at the 2022 USA Swimming Phillips 66 National Championships in Irvine, Calif., on Friday.

Senior David Snyder and junior Justin Heims represented the Mountaineers at the five-day long meet held at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatic Center. Both Snider and Heimes were among some of the nation’s top swimmers in the event.

“David and Justin represented WVU and themselves very well,” said Mountaineers head coach Rick West. “They were both able to take away experiences from this meet that will help them this upcoming season. I couldn’t be more proud of how they performed in their first national competition.”

Snider competed in the men’s 100-meter butterfly on Thursday, June 28. The Parkersburg, West Virginia, native finished 36th overall with a lifetime best of 54.19.

Heime’s swim in the men’s 100-meter backstroke wrapped up the competition for the Mountaineers on Friday. The Quakertown, Pennsylvania, native swam a 57.84 to finish 63rd overall.
