“I live everywhere” features more than 40 women who deal with the reality of living on the streets of Rio de Janeiro
The documentary “I live everywhere – Women in street situations”, by director and screenwriter Márcio Coutinho, produced by Rachel Silva, aims to draw the attention of the authorities and society as a whole to the reality of the obstacles that women face in life. In the street. The preview will be on September 1 for guests at the Museum of Tomorrow, located in Praça Mauá, one of the supporters of the initiative. The singer Criolo also supported the project by providing the song “Casa de papelão”, which forms the soundtrack.
“The big challenge these women face is fighting violence. I noticed that many of them ended up on the street because of the violence they lived in their homes and when they came to the street they found violence again in every way, including physical violence. Among all the people I have heard, this story is repeated. Drug use is also another factor that either puts them on the street or keeps them,” says documentary director Marcio Coutinho.
The production of the documentary began in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. More than 40 women were heard, including people living on the streets, others who managed to resume their lives off the streets and professionals from various fields involved in the cause, such as psychologists, social workers and sociologists.
The film also shows stories of overcoming, such as the popular human rights defender Vania Rosa. She says that faced with a strong depression due to family losses, she ended up on the street, where she was for 15 years, but 5 years ago she managed to get her life back. “Today I am the creator of the Juca project (Combining fragments with art), where I help people in situations of social vulnerability”, she explains.
