In a dialogue on Twitter, billionaire Elon Musk, currently the CEO of Twitter, showed interest in buying the giant Substack, a platform that provides infrastructure for publishing subscription-based newsletters worldwide.
The statement came on Wednesday (December 28), after Musk responded to a tweet by journalist Leighton Woodhouse that the mainstream media is avoiding talking about the files recently tweeted by Musk.
“In my group: the response of establishment journalists to the Twitter files is that of a profession dedicated to protecting the state and not exposing it,” said the journalist.
Musk shared Woodhouse’s post with a question:
“Why is corporate journalism rushing to defend the state instead of the people?” asked Musk.
Then, other profiles with a large number of Twitter followers entered the conversation, such as American investor Collin Rugg and the Twitter site Wall Street Silver, which responded to Musk’s tweet suggesting that the billionaire should buy Substack via Twitter.
“It would make sense for Twitter to buy Substack and tie the two platforms together more tightly. Twitter plus Substack create massive instant competition for legacy corporate media,” tweeted Wall Street Silver.
Musk responded by saying he would be “open to the idea.”
