Trick-or-treating

Trick-or-treating is coming to Needville a little earlier this year, with the PTA-sponsored Halloween Carnival set for Saturday, October 1, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pmat Don Wenzel Memorial Harvest Park, 3001 Violet St.

Activities include a costume contest, pumpkin carving contest and ongoing cake walks, each with multiple prizes for the winners.

The all-ages costume contest begins at 5:30 p.m., and the winners of the pumpkin carving contest for ages 7 to adult will be announced at 6:30 p.m.

Individuals wishing to participate in the pumpkin carving contest must register in advance on facebook. com/needvillepta. The race will be divided into three age categories: 7-12; 13-17; and 18 and over, with only 10 applications accepted in each age group.

Games at the carnival include everything from a fish pond to a football toss and a lollipop tree to milk bottles, along with much more.

An obstacle course and sweeper are sure to provide plenty of fun, as are a gag ball pit and the High Striker, the tool that measures how hard a person hits the base with a “sledgehammer.”
