GOVERNMENT ministers, sports administrators, TT Urban Development Corporation (Udecott) and TT Sports Company (SportTT) executives, among other officials, toured the new facilities at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Monday.
Construction is nearing completion. Udecott, the project manager, issued a statement to the media shortly after, saying that “Skinner Park is almost ready to host cultural and sporting events.”
San Fernando Mayor Junia Regrello led a panel that included Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell; Minister of Sports Shamfa Cudjoe; National Carnival Commission Chairman Winston “Gypsy” Peters; Pan Trinbago President Beverly Ramsey-Moore; TT Promoters Association president Jerome Precilla; and stakeholders from the TT Football Association and the TT Cycling Federation.
Facilities at the park now include a playing field, cycling track, spectator seating, concession stands, corporate boxes, a media room, shops and locker rooms for home and away teams.
Udecott said: “The Minister and the Mayor expressed their deep satisfaction with what they saw at the new Skinner Park facility, showing that the people of San Fernando and, by extension, Trinidad and Tobago can be proud and very happy with this new state property.”
