New Study Says Twitter Users Are Not Happy With Musk In Charge And Many Are Abandoning The App / Digital Information World

So, Elon Musk is the new owner and CEO of Twitter. The billionaire bought the firm last week in a dramatic series of events that saw top executives sacked in the country.

Change was inevitable and Musk really brought a new side to himself as the head of the company that many hadn’t seen. His decision making was a little too quick for many people’s liking and today he claims the bird has been released. But little does he know that there will be a huge cost that he may not have anticipated.

A new report is giving insight into how people are unhappy with the world’s richest man at the helm and are even going so far as to abandon the platform.

You might assume that people threatening to quit the Twitter app is nothing new, and many refuse to follow through on the same decision. However, this new study is now showing how the issue is getting serious and so many users are indeed abandoning this platform and it’s for the better.

The alarming figure from Bot Sentinel, which is the program that tracks fake behavior on the Twitter app, is now analyzing around 3 million accounts that perform daily activity on the platform. They believe nearly 870,000 accounts were subject to the deactivation process and more than 500,000 were suspended from the app in the same period that Elon Musk took over. And in case you’re wondering, it’s more than double the usual figure.

The founder of Bot Sentinel mentioned how they have seen a mass uprising of individuals deactivating accounts and also those who suspended it after Elon Musk took over. Calculations are made after taking into consideration the total percentage of the platform’s user base. It is now 237 million in terms of those who use the app on a daily basis. So, in this buyout period on Twitter, about 11,000 accounts were subject to deactivation, and this in turn means that people deliberately chose to close the account.

Twitter also suspended accounts in this period if it thought they were dormant for too long or didn’t show any frequent activity. So there was a 208% increase in terms of account losses during the days when purchases were going through.

Twitter’s staggering data is proof that such increases in deactivations occur because people are so upset with Musk that he bought Twitter and then decided to deactivate the account as a protest about it.

Some experts think that this massive increase in account suspensions may be partly due to hate speech, which is completely under Elon Musk’s control now. A large part is also due to Twitter’s deliberate crackdown on accounts that deliberately go against the app’s policies as it claimed it wanted to promote free speech.

So, as you can tell, this is definitely an issue of concern for Twitter. This is definitely a new challenge and rebellion that the app should really think about as it starts to make changes and it may come at a cost of losing so many active members. Well, is it worth it? Only time will tell, but Elon Musk and the entire Twitter think tank have a lot on their plate right now.

In the long run, if users end up abandoning the app in such massive numbers, it will surely turn into a mega problem for the app.
