| Background: | Please join the City of San José Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, Council Member Magdalena Carrasco, the Office of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs and community members in unveiling a memorial mural honoring Keyla Salazar and a playground new. The mural commemorates Keyla Salazar, a Mayfair teenager who was the victim of the 2019 mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. The mural was created by Jessica Sabogal, a Bay Area artist. In addition, children can enjoy a playground at Mayfair Park, which features two structures for children aged 2-12, including five climbers, six slides, four swings, a unique large carousel and three shade tents . This family-friendly event will also feature Aztec Dancing, a resource fair, snacks and a screening of Disney Pixar’s “Coco.” For more information about PRNS parks and facilities, visit www.sanjoseca.gov/prns.
