No. 1 Clemson Dominate UNC Asheville 4-0 on Tuesday Night – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

CLEMSON, SC – The top-ranked Clemson men’s soccer team put on a fine showing at Historic Riggs Field on Tuesday night, holding off UNC Asheville by a final score of 4-0 to move to 4-0-0 on the season. Ousmane Sylla and Mohamed Seye each continued their impressive 2022 campaign with four points each on the evening.

The first of the Tigers’ four goals came from freshman Nathan Richmond, who was making his first career start. Seye singled it over the keeper and he calmly slotted the puck into the back of the net before pulling off a flip to celebrate his first collegiate goal.

Seye earned his second assist of the night when he laid the ball off to Sylla, who took a touch to his right and slammed the ball across his body to double Clemson’s lead. Just two minutes later, Seye would get on the scoreboard after an assist from Sylla, which he blasted into the top of the net with his left foot.

Just over three minutes into the second half, Sylla found an open Isaiah Reid inside the penalty area and Reid slotted a cool finish past the keeper to put the Tigers up 4-0. The rest of the game went scoreless as Clemson played 21 men and outscored the Bulldogs 32-5 en route to Joseph Andema’s second shutout in as many starts.

“I thought it was as good a performance as we’ve had so far this year, including the Indiana game, from back to front,” coach Mike Noonan said. The forwards did their job scoring, Joseph and the back four did their job and the midfield also did their job, so a good performance all around.”

Next time, The Tigers kick off their ACC schedule on the road with a trip to Boston College on Saturday, September 10. Kick-off is set for 19:00 and the match will be broadcast on ACCNX.
