The Placer County Sheriff’s Office released an image taken from surveillance video showing missing 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, filmed hours before she disappeared from a Truckee campground early Saturday morning.
The video, taken at 6:08 p.m. Friday at a local Truckee business, shows Rodney wearing a black spaghetti strap bodysuit, green Dickies pants with a black belt and black Vans shoes.
“It doesn’t expand our timeline, it doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t know, but it’s still great. It confirms the timeline we already have,” said Scott Alford, a detective sergeant with the Placer County Sheriff’s Department at a news conference Tuesday.
Officials are currently investigating Rodney’s disappearance as a kidnapping because they have been unable to locate her vehicle, a silver 2013 Honda CRV, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said. But they have no evidence to support that Rodney was kidnapped.
On Tuesday, officials reached out to partygoers who attended the large gathering where Rodney was last seen for information. Some of the teenagers may be afraid to come forward because of the drugs and alcohol that were present at the party, law enforcement said, but they said the teens’ behavior is not the focus of the investigation.
“Of the 200 to 300 people that were at the party, somebody knows something about Kiely,” Angela Musallam, a sheriff’s spokeswoman, said at Tuesday’s news conference.
There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to her finding. Officials have asked anyone with information to call the sheriff’s tip line at 530-581-6320 and press option 7 or email [email protected]. Anonymous tips are accepted, sheriff’s officials said.
