Ozark Isle youth muzzleloader deer hunt announced > Little Rock District > News Releases

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting applications from youth hunters ages 15 and under who would like to participate in a special muzzleloader deer hunt Dec. 10 and 11 at the Ozark Island Park/Running Area dry at Bull Lake of Shoals.

Application forms can be picked up at the front office or mailed beginning October 17 from the USACE Mountain Home Project Office at 324 West 7th Street, Mountain Home, Arkansas. They can also be found on our website at the following address: https://www.swl.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Lakes/Bull-Shoals-Lake/ .

Applicants must submit a completed application form by November 18. A random drawing and hunter announcement will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at the Mountain Home Project Office. Eight youth hunting licenses will be issued. Participants must have guardian consent and be accompanied on the hunt by an unarmed adult over the age of 21 who has a valid Arkansas hunting license.

Youth hunters will be limited to ovens only. This opportunity helps create an interest in conservation, the outdoors and develop good hunting ethics while improving the deer herd in the area.

Hunters must secure their firearms and be proficient enough to use them safely. Access and hunting blinds will be provided to help youth enjoy a safe and successful outdoor recreation experience.
