She described receiving the scholarship as a difficult achievement.

She said: “I have been applying for full scholarships since 2016.”

“In 2021, I decided to try an Erasmus scholarship. I want an international acting career, so I saw this as an opportunity to undertake it. I also wanted to travel to Portugal and knew (under Erasmus+) that studying at a tertiary level could offer travel opportunities.

However, Wilson’s ambitions go beyond acting and the desire to travel. After completing her studies, she plans to devote her energies to developing businesses that support the Caribbean’s creative arts sector.

She also aims to use her research into Caribbean dance and theater styles to increase global recognition and respect for the distinctive styles (of dance, music and theatre) of Trinidad and Tobago and the region.

The Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Trinidad and Tobago, Peter Cavendish praised the latest Erasmus scholar.

He said: “Here is a young lady full of energy, creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to give back – exactly the kind of person Erasmus scholarships are made for. I have no doubt that Brie will make a significant contribution to the development of culture and the arts in Trinidad and Tobago and the region. ”

He continued: “We would really like to encourage more university graduates to apply for Erasmus Postgraduate Scholarships. As we can see from Breige’s achievement, the field of postgraduate studies that can be involved in the Erasmus program is wide and goes beyond traditional academics. Trinidad and Tobago is full of talented individuals who can only shine if they first take the opportunity, as Breige did, and apply.”

Coming from a creative family, Wilson credits her desire to excel in the performing arts to her family, in particular, her two late aunts, Sharon Joseph and veteran journalist Cecily Asson, who she says invested heavily in her development. her as an artist. .

She will leave for France to start her studies in September.
