forensic techniques used to solve
the case of Maníaco do Parque, in the southern area of São Paulo

In 1998, the Parque de Estado, in the southern area of the city of São Paulo, was the scene of a horrific period that included a series of rapes and murders. Francisco de Assis Pereira, known by the nickname “Maníaco do Parque”, was responsible for killing more than ten women. To find the serial killer, experts followed the tracks left along the way, in addition to the testimonies of three victims who fled the attempted rape at the scene. In the fifth episode of “Perícia Lab”, specialists Telma and Ricardo save the techniques used in the investigative process. Telma was the forensic photographer in charge of the case. While the narration of André Ramiro (“Tropa de Elite”) recalls the details of the case, the experts accompany the narrative through experiments conducted in a scenographic laboratory to demonstrate the line of reasoning of the experts in the investigation.

The case that shocked the country in 1998. Several women’s bodies were found in Parque do Estado, South Zone of São Paulo. In them, strangulation and bite marks. The investigators come into contact with 3 women who were victims of sexual violence a year ago and came up with a sketch of a man. Intelligent, charismatic, skater, motorcycle courier, Francisco de Assis is considered one of the most perverted serial killers in history.
