Twin sisters from Perth, Australia, Helen and Roanne Stewart hold Fiji close to their hearts. They were among thousands of tourists who flocked to the Port Denarau Marina in Nadi on Sunday aboard the Carnival Splendor cruise line.

The ship docked at Suva Harbor on Saturday and was the first cruise ship in Suva in two years.

As they left the marina, the twins took the blue and gold Fijian $7 note with them as souvenirs. It was a journey that started from Seattle in the United States of America, then to Hawaii before arriving on our shores.

Helen is a human resources officer while her sister Roanne is employed in gold mining. For Helen, returning to Fiji was an amazing experience for her to give back and support the country’s local communities.

“This is the first cruise we have done since Australia shut us down in March 2020 and we are very happy to be back in Fiji and support the local communities,” she said.

“We stopped in Natadola, in a shop, and that way we helped the local communities.”

“The cruise ship left Seattle and is heading back to Sydney so we thought why not be part of the cruise and plus we’ve been to Fiji before so why not come back.”

She said they enjoyed every bit of their visit to Fiji.

“People are very friendly,” she added.

The twins were also accompanied by their two friends.

They will spend four days at sea before returning to Sydney on Friday.
