The St. Peter branch of the United Progressive Party (UPP) officially launched its constituency office on Friday evening, October 21, and candidate Tevaugh Harriette says he couldn’t be more proud of the achievement.

“As 6.30pm approached, there was a sense of anxiety and excitement; and as if some higher power knew what was needed, a cold, soothing rain came to help create a sense of calm,” says Harriette in describing the evening.

He reports that the event began in the usual way, with a powerful singing of the national anthem by the audience, followed by a lively benediction by Pastor Paul Andrew, the Party chaplain.

The proceedings were not without minor technical problems, however, which caused a slight deviation from the schedule. But that didn’t stop branch member Dotsie Isaac, nationally known for her poetry, from giving a presentation, Harriette says.

Nor did they soften the words of encouragement and congratulations from Opposition Leader and Deputy Political Leader Jamale Pringle, who said she continues to be impressed by his new colleague’s commitment to the objectives of the Redemption Team, as the UPP slate is called. of.

With the technical issues resolved, the audience was treated to two special numbers selected by Dega on occasion: Song Hypocritesa 2022 calypso by Peetron, a new ingredient, while Harriette’s own introduction was followed by Whitney Houston A moment in time.

Harriette’s audience members and fellow candidates were full of praise for his speech, which traced his St. Peter’s association—from his birth in Parham to his education at Pares High School and his illustrious career as football with the local club and the national team.

Harriette – dubbed “Peter Blue” for the occasion – spoke about the current state of the constituency and its people; his hopes for a turnaround in St. Peter’s fortunes and status; and his commitment to restoring Parham, in particular, to its former glory.

He also assured his audience that he is the right person, and UPP is the right choice, to make these things happen.

Closing the event was Political Leader Harold Lovell, who gave Harriette – the newest member of the list – his endorsement and submitted the charge.

Lovell particularly noted how much and how quickly Harriette had matured; how he had demonstrated his abilities, as a team player and as a leader; and the great hopes he has for the Candidate’s success in the upcoming elections.

The ceremony concluded with the formal cutting of the ribbon and unveiling of the branch office sign and candidate’s placards, followed by a vote of thanks from St. Peter’s Branch President Daverson Welsh.

The event, which ended with refreshments and music, was also supported by former Prime Minister Dr. Baldwin Spencer and former Minister of Education Dr. Jacqui Quinn, as well as Harriette’s campaign managers and representatives of the Party Executive, Women’s Forum and Progressive Youth. .

Branch members and launch organizers reported Friday night that they were “very pleased” with how things had turned out, and they gave special thanks to their benefactor, Earl “Desta Jah” Gardner, and emcees Errianne Weste and Joan McEwen .
