Chief of Medicine, Dr. The Most Honorable Kenneth George is informing the public that Pfizer BioNTech, authorized by the Food and Drug Administration, has extended the recommended expiration dates of the COVID-19 vaccines from nine months to one year from the date of manufacture. This means that Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines available in Barbados with a production date of November 2021 have a 12-month shelf life until October 31, 2022.
The Chief Medical Officer assures the public that the administered Pfizer COVID Vaccines remain safe and effective and still offer an opportunity to control the spread of COVID-19. It states that Pfizer vaccines for COVID-19 will continue to be available until the end of October 2022. The Ministry of Health and Welfare will continue to obtain the vaccines for COVID-19 on the open market.
