The Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP) will ask the Office of the Ombudsman for Women (OPM) to rescind the $30,000 fine it intends to impose on the group for not having workplace and sexual harassment protocols.

According to the document, he is charged with an administrative fine of $10,000 for violating Act 17 of 1988, which requires employers to have a harassment-free workplace and a protocol for handling such cases. Also, imposes another fine of 10,000 dollars for non-compliance with the public policy of Law 20 of 2001, not fulfilling the legal obligation to promote policies in favor of women; and the third fine, $10,000, is for violating Act 90 of 2020 by not having a necessary internal protocol or policy to prevent, discourage and avoid harassment in the workplace.
