In celebration of Hispanic Heritage/Latino Month, the U of A will host the 17th annual Plaza de las Americas event from 4-6 p.m. today, Thursday, October 6, at the Arkansas Union Mall.
Plaza de las Americas will feature music, dance, food and more in a celebration of Arkansas’ Latin American and Spanish cultures. Guests are invited to visit booths representing various Latin American and Spanish-speaking countries. The cultural and educational event offers members of the campus and community an opportunity to learn about other cultures.
Exhibit booths will be open from 4-5 p.m., as event volunteers share cultural artifacts or photos to help attendees better visualize Latin American and other Spanish cultures. Attendees can also visit the “tertulia” tables to engage in conversation and play games with fluent Spanish speakers.
Music and performances will be held from 5:15-6pm, including a small dance party, Bail. Tall Baile, attendees will learn different types of Latin American dances.
