Power outage – DR
The population of Marie-Galante has been affected by power cuts since yesterday. The origin of these failures is still being evaluated.
Since yesterday (October 4, 2022), the population of Marie-Galante has been strongly affected by disturbances in the electricity grid. The origin is still being researched by EDF Archipel Guadeloupe teams.
According to our information, the failure could be either in the connection to Guadeloupe, or in some electrical installations located in the territory.
At the height of the event, the entire island was without power for about 1:30.
As of 1 p.m. this Wednesday (October 5), approximately fifty customers remain without electricity located exclusively in the Saint-Jean and Etang Long areas.
Recommendations from EDF Archipel Guadeloupe
EDF Archipel Guadeloupe invites all subscribers to limit the use of their electrical equipment.
Reminder of simple and useful actions to limit your consumption: – Turn off the air conditioners;
– Do not use washing machines and dryers;
– Avoid using electric ovens and other household appliances;
– Don’t forget to turn off the light when you leave a room;
– Unplug non-essential devices.
In case of power outages, unplug electrical equipment.
After the power has been restored, it is recommended to wait approximately 20 minutes to avoid micro-cuts and surges that may occur and damage equipment.
