Police Investigating after Shots Fired Outside Kitchener Secondary School

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a gun incident in Kitchener.

On October 28, 2022, at approximately 2:00 p.m., police received a report of shots fired in the area of ​​Block Line Road and Homer Watson Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed that shots had been fired into the air during an altercation outside St. John’s High School. Upon investigation, it was later determined that the shots were empty.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of this incident and investigators believe it was targeted.

Schools in the area were placed on lockdown and secured as a safety precaution and have since been lifted.

There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the evening as detectives carry out a canvass.

The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jogging pants, white shoes with black heels, a tan duffel bag and a face mask. The suspect was last seen walking towards the Activa Sportsplex on Lennox Lewis Way.

The investigation is ongoing by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Forensic Identification Unit.
