Pollard retires from international cricket

Trinidad and Tobago cricket star Kieron Pollard has retired from international cricket.

The captain of the West Indies white ball teams made the announcement on Instagram.

“After careful deliberation I have today decided to retire from international cricket,” Pollard said in a video.

“As is the case with many youngsters, it has been a dream of mine to represent the West Indies team since I was a 10-year-old boy and I am proud to have represented West Indies cricket for over 15 years in both T20 Formats and ODIs of the game,” he added.

“I still vividly remember making my international debut in 2007 under the guidance of my childhood hero, Brian Lara. Wearing those maroon colors and playing with such greats has been a privilege I have never taken lightly, with spirit in every aspect of the game – be it bowling, batting or fielding,” said Pollard.

The 34-year-old played 123 ODIs and 101 T20Is for West Indies and was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2012 in Sri Lanka.

Pollard is currently in India campaigning with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
