Voting centers open in Brazil for the second round of presidential elections

Polling stations in Brazil opened at 8 a.m. local time (GMT-3) on October 30 for the second round of the general election, which will determine who will be the country’s president from 2023. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. of the Workers’ Party (PT, left) or Jair Bolsonaro, of the Liberal Party (PL, right).

Bolsonaro, having arrived 10 minutes earlier, cast his vote in Rio de Janeiro, surrounded by his supporters.

More than 156.4 million voters have been called to the polling stations. Voting across the country will take place from 08:00 to 17:00 (local time).

In the first round of elections, Lula received 48.43% of the votes, while Bolsonaro received 43.2%.

Although polls agree on an advantage for Lula da Silva, the trend has leveled off and the average of the last 10 polls published in Brazil shows a margin of just two points in favor of the PT candidate.
