Popular Isle of Wight event Ventnor Carnival returns

VENTNOR Comic Jazz Band — going down the wrong road in their usual style — heralded the start of the town’s popular carnival.

Fresh from the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee pageant in London, the band led the way around Ventnor.

A series of notes, groups and some imaginative individual entries followed.

The Nixon family went royal with a jubilee theme, while St Catherine’s School went 80s in retro fluorescent style.

Spyglass Inn brought out their pirate ship and Fan TC Con promoted their upcoming event.

The Ventnor Carnival Fly was themed ‘Our World, Their Future’ with stars and moon chairs and a large globe.

Waterfront businesses and Ventnor Town Council teamed up to pay for a spectacular fireworks display on the harbor afterwards.
