Port of Montevideo triples its capacity and aims to become a regional hub

More than 130 Spanish companies in Uruguay are a growing contribution to work in the Latin American country.

“I believe that the participation of Spanish companies in Uruguay is in line with that old history of meeting between Uruguay and Spain, which actually makes them two countries with great cultural, social and also economic ties,” said Mieres.

At the inauguration of the Spanish pavilion of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Uruguay (Camacoes) at Expo Prado, the main livestock and agro-industrial fair in the country, during the day the head of the portfolio was also present.

In this activity, he also emphasized that there are companies from the European nation in the country “that have a long history” and new ones that are betting on Uruguay that are also being incorporated “through investments in the most diverse fields”.

Finally, he noted that reaching the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur will give “another big boost” to the growth of Spanish investment in Uruguay.

Andrés Burghi, president of Camacoes, said there are many Spanish companies in the South American country.

“As I always say, they are very Uruguayan companies, because they are companies that, although they are of Spanish origin, we Uruguayans are used to living together every day with all these reference brands in Uruguay”, he concluded.

The 117th edition of Expo Prado will be held in Montevideo from September 9 to 18 and will feature various activities.
