Port of Spain and Shanghai strengthen relations with Letter of Intent

The cities of Port of Spain and Shanghai have begun the process of becoming sister cities.

Port of Spain Mayor Joel Martinez and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Mayor Gong Zheng signed a Letter of Intent on Tuesday morning to begin the process.

The Letter of Intent signals a continuation of the commercial and cultural partnership between the two cities and represents the third sister city agreement in 2022 for Port of Spain following a signing with the Mayor of Kumasi, Ghana, in October and the confirmation of a Memorandum of Understanding with the mayor of Georgetown, Guyana.

Present at the ceremony which took place at the Port of Spain City Corporation was Dr Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Caricom Affairs, Fang Qui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Stuart Young . , Minister for Energy and Energy Affairs Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister for Trade Keith Scotland, Member of Parliament for Port of Spain Southern and Annette Stapleton-Seaforth, CEO of Port of Spain Municipal Council.
