Faced with increasing cases of fraud, professional drivers must be aware and seek reference laboratories
Toxicological examination, an analysis that identifies the presence of psychoactive substances, drugs, in the body, is a requirement for the renewal of the National Driver’s License (CNH) for professional drivers (categories C, D and E). The growing cases of fraud to obtain negative reports draw attention to the importance of seeking out laboratories that excel in technical excellence and suitability since, if the driver does not submit the test at the time of renewal, the driver is subject to a fine of R$ 1467.35 and may be banned from driving for three months.
“You have to be careful. Filing a report resulting from fraud allows drug users to continue to drive professionally across the country, which puts passengers, whether on public or private transport, at risk; school transport students; truck drivers, among others. In addition, it is a crime that can lead to the arrest of those who buy the fake test and those who illegally sell the fraud.”, warns pharmacist Fábio Alonso, CEO of Laboratório Contraprova, in Niterói, a reference to the provision of analyzes laboratories in the fields of Toxicology, Molecular Biology, Hematology, Biochemistry and Immunology.
Public ministries in some states, such as Tocantins, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, investigate schemes to cheat toxicology tests to obtain a CNH. According to information released by the Special Action Group for Combating Organized Crime (Gaeco) of MPE-TO, criminals falsified toxicology tests to cover up drug use by drivers.
“Emphasizing the seriousness and accuracy of the exam is essential. Toxicology serves many specific points: Drivers of categories C, D and E (trucks, buses, vans) must be tested every two and a half years. Companies that employ drivers must undergo an exam on admission, periodically and on termination of employment. Public tenders, in police and military areas, rehabilitation clinics (for monitoring abstinence) and also some companies that implement programs to prevent drug use”, explains Fábio Alonso.
