Proposed amnesty law could lead to the release of 10% of Angolan prisoners – PGR

The General Prosecutor of the Republic (PGR) of Angola admitted today that the amnesty law proposed by the government could free about 2,000 prisoners, 10% of the prison population, and lead to the closure of some cases.

Helder Pitta Gróz was speaking in Luanda on the sidelines of the swearing-in ceremony of 30 new civil servants of the Republic, but said it was not possible, at the moment, to specify how many people will benefit from the amnesty law, as it is not yet approved by the National Assembly
