Public Invited to Danbury I-84 Study Public Information Meeting
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will host an in-person public meeting for the I-84 Danbury Study on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 5:30-8:00 pm at Connecticut State University, Student Center, Room 202, at 181 White Street, Danbury.
The I-84 Danbury study is a CTDOT initiative aimed at improving people’s mobility and goods on the I-84 corridor in greater Danbury. The study boundary extends from the New York-Connecticut state line to Interchange 8 in Danbury. It also includes connections to Route 7 at Intersections 3 and 7. Improving safety and access and reducing congestion on this section of I-84 is expected to have positive effects on commerce in the city, region and state.
At this public meeting, the study team is seeking to engage with residents, business owners and the traveling public to provide information and an update on the study process, as well as discuss the solution-based concepts that have been developed for both the highway and even for no. – highway road networks. Preliminary concepts can be seen on the project website at www.i84danbury.com/concepts/.
The closest parking to the Student Center is in the parking garage on White Street. The public meeting will begin at 5:30 pm and will be an open format where the study team will present conceptual plans and information about the study. The team will be available to speak with attendees and provide information about the process and solution-based concepts. The study team will give a short presentation at 18:30. The meeting will conclude with a question-and-answer session, where attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments about the study.

The I-84 Danbury study is now in the Planning and Environmental Links (PEL) study phase. This study follows Federal Highway Administration guidelines and will soon move from the long-term planning phase to the next environmental review process evaluating local conditions and developing alternatives. CTDOT may adopt or incorporate planning products from this PEL Study into a federal or state environmental review process, pursuant to Title 23 USC through Title 23 USC § 168(d)(4).

American Sign Language interpretation and real-time audio translation into Spanish or Portuguese can be provided for the meeting upon request. Please make any translation requests at least five (5) business days prior to the meeting by calling CTDOT at (860) 594-2109. Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public and efforts will be made to respond to requests for assistance in a timely manner.
