The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) will organize a four-day sports carnival at the race course from Thursday to attract more people to the stadiums in the 36th National Games, which is scheduled to begin on September 30 in Ahmedabad. Rajkot will host hockey and aquatics events from September 2 to 9 and September 2 to 8 respectively.
The Sports Carnival will begin with a hockey match between two Gujarat teams comprising senior players at the Major Dhyanchand Hockey Ground on Thursday evening. This will be followed by other games like hula hoop, pyramid, front roll, cart, etc on a stage near the art gallery at the Race Course.
At the same time, other games, including those for children, will be organized near the art gallery. Afterwards there will be a cultural program at the art gallery.
On the 16th of September, a walking race will be organized in the morning on the athletic field at the Race Course, while a basketball game will be held in the evening. On the final day of the carnival, the Commissioner’s Eleven and the Mayor’s Eleven will clash in a cricket match at the Madhav Rao Scindia Cricket Ground at 6 pm.
